#ICT2BytheGiant
A month of learning has come and gone. I have a few take-away points from this course that I would like to highlight. The first comes from Module 5. I had never heard of commonsense media before and I am so happy that I was exposed to this resource. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the information it had to offer on Google Classroom features- specifically the feature it had on how to create a collaborative document. Check out the video here. Furthermore, there was so much information on how to teach students about digital literacy that it is worth it for every teacher (and parent) to know about. A definite resource to checkout.
The other takeaway I had was in regards to all the research I was able to do on resilience. I conducted an inquiry on resilience and was able to find a plethora of research articles and resilience apps (many of which are featured on this mind-map) which might be beneficial for students. I was able to complete a blog post on my thoughts connecting resilience and mental health implications. Finally, I have been using Piktochart in my classroom for quite some time but I haven't really created many info-graphics myself. I was very proud to create an info-graphic on resilience which I will use in my classes.
The final takeaway that I would like to touch upon came about in the last module. I said at the beginning of the course that I would like to try out PowToon and in this last module we were encouraged to "sell" a new presentation tool. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to create a video using the storyboard and animations they had. I didn't create a one-themed story, instead I decided to showcase a few of the backboard options, animators and voice overs that they provided.

Thank you to my instructor @pdm_29 facilitating the course and my fellow colleagues that were wiling to spend the summer learning about tech with me. Can't wait to continue the educational journey with the world of tech in the 2017-2018 school year!

LOL... Not to be a stick in the mud, but #ICT2BytheGiant is our hashtag:) Well said Kristen, I am glad you have added some new tools to use. Your blogs over the duration of the course have been a pleasure to read. Don't stop! It is a great way to demonstrate your own learning, and sharing with other educators, your students, and parents. Good Luck this coming fall. @pdm_29 :)
